“Party Rock Anthem” singer Lauren Bennett’s death is being investigated by authorities in the U.K., according to a report.
The Kent and Medway Coroner Service is leading the probe, which was launched on on June 12, weeks after Bennett’s sudden death on May 29, TMZ reported. The inquest is expected to run through October, which means it will be months before there are concrete answers in the case.
In a social media post on Tuesday, her father, Richard Bennett, revealed Bennett “experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication” months before she died.
“We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need,” he said.
Her former G.R.L. bandmates released a statement on Monday, confirming Bennett died in her hometown of Meopham at the end of May. She was 36 years old.
Few other details have been provided.
“Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us,” Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen wrote on Instagram.

“We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us,” the statement continued. “Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
Prior to joining G.R.L., Bennett competed on “X Factor” in 2007 before becoming a member of the band, Paradiso Girls. They disbanded in 2010, but they enjoyed some success with their 2009 hit “Patron Tequila.” Bennett was also a part of G.R.L., which also eventually disbanded in 2015 after dropping songs like “Vacation” and “Lighthouse.”
The singer had a solo career, too, and her most recent single was a track called “Hurricane.” She is perhaps best known for her vocals on LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” which was released 2011. She also collaborated with the likes of CeeLo Green and will.i.am in the 2010s.
