Police K-9 unit aids in OC drug bust; 20 pounds of ketamine and $100k seized

Three men were arrested last week in Costa Mesa on suspicion of possessing 20 pounds of ketamine and $100,000, according to authorities.

Detectives with the Costa Mesa Police Department, Anaheim Police Department officers, and Homeland Security Investigations agents were undergoing a narcotic investigation in the area of Harbor Boulevard and Wilson Street in Costa Mesa on Friday, March 6, when a suspect in a vehicle allegedly intentionally hit a police vehicle while trying to flee, said Costa Mesa PD spokesperson Roxanna Fyad.

The man was arrested after trying to run away on foot.

Two male suspects in a second vehicle associated with the investigation were later stopped by police and arrested, Fyad said. Authorities found 20 pounds of ketamine and $100,000 in their possession.

Aran, part of Costa Mesa’s police K-9 unit, was “helpful in detecting the narcotics,” said Fyad. “Whenever we need assistance in that area, he’s our canine… he’s very good at it.”
