An 18-year-old woman was bound and raped by a man inside his Queens apartment more than a year ago, and a suspect has now been arrested, police and law enforcement sources said Friday.
The victim went to meet the suspect inside his Sutphin Blvd. apartment near 116th Drive in South Jamaica, where he attacked her around on May 12, 2025, sources said.
The man threatened the victim with a knife and bound her before sexually assaulting her, according to sources.
The victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries from the attack.
Stephon Sanderson, 31, was arrested Thursday and charged with rape, predatory sexual assault and sexual abuse for the attack, police said.
Sanderson was also charged Thursday with a 2024 attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl and a kidnapping that same year of an 11-year-old girl, both in Queens, cops said. Details on those incidents were not immediately available.
The suspect’s first arrest in New York came on Sept. 1, when he was picked up on an out-of-state warrant for a DUI in Pennsylvania, according to police.
Sanderson was ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty in Queens Criminal Court Thursday, records show.
The NYPD released an image of Sanderson Friday and are asking anyone who has been victimized by him to come forward.
