The Plano Police Department contacted Richardson police at 2:12 a.m., saying they lost sight of a vehicle connected to a robbery, Richardson police said in a news release. The vehicle entered Richardson in the area of Custer Road and West Renner Road, according to the release.
Richardson officers spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the suspect fled into Dallas, starting a pursuit, police said. The person shot at officers during the pursuit and officers returned fire, police said.
After the vehicle was disabled at Alpha Road and Hughes Lane in Dallas, the person was taken into custody and then to a hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound. Police said their condition is unknown.
Police said no officers were shot during the incident.
The Dallas Police Department is investigating the shooting by Richardson officers; Plano and Dallas police were not involved, Richardson police said in the release.
