Lyle Landers, the ex-husband of social media star Sara Gilson, who was killed by estranged husband Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey in a murder-suicide last month, is advocating to protect her estate from Duffey’s relatives.
Landers, with whom Gilson shared two children, is calling on a court to ensure that any beneficiaries of Duffey’s estate not “inherit from the victim of the offense, or receive any interest in the estate of the victim,” according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
Landers is looking to be administrator of his ex-wife’s estate and guardian ad litem for their kids, for whom he hopes to “preserve and protect” Gilson’s personal property in Tulsa.
Gilson, 43, was fatally shot on July 23 after authorities believe 47-year-old Duffey broke into their Oklahoma City home, where he then ultimately died by suicide. The tragedy unfolded after a teenage girl Duffey coached for basketball accused him of sexual misconduct, for which he was charged with lewd molestation of a minor. Gilson in early June then obtained an emergency order of protection against Duffey and described him as a pedophile in a July 11 TikTok video.
As of late 2021, Gilson had already secured two protective orders against Duffey, one that August and another the following month, both of which were ultimately dismissed.
The third and final order was the one she sought after his molestation charge, at which point she said he was in possession of a firearm.
