“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin missed work to go into childbirth mode on Tuesday, a day after joking on air that Bad Bunny’s jubilant Super Bowl halftime show might jump-start the proceedings.
“I don’t know if you saw the show yesterday, but it turns out Alyssa was right about Bad Bunny’s halftime show putting her into labor,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said at the top of Tuesday’s episode, explaining the co-host’s absence from set. “It put her into labor! She’s at the hospital right now!”

The audience and fellow panelists gasped in delight and cheered at the news.
“We are wishing her the best as she waits for her baby boy to arrive,” Goldberg continued. “Yeah! It’s kind of fabulous!”
Tuesday was scheduled to be Griffin’s last day before maternity leave, she told executive producer Brian Teta on Monday’s edition of “The View” podcast “Behind the Table.”
Griffin’s quip about going into labor came as she and fellow panelists Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines described their reactions to Bad Bunny’s symbol-laden 13-minute love letter to Puerto Rico and the Americas as a whole.
Navarro and Hostin, both of Puerto Rican heritage, were deeply moved by seeing their culture and the U.S. territory’s political realities portrayed with such joy on an international stage.
Griffin, who joined “The View” along with Navarro in August 2022, noted that while she was not familiar with Bad Bunny’s music before the show, it was clear she didn’t have to be.
“I only even knew the song he ended with,” she said. “And I was like, I’m following this, I love this, people are dancing, baby might come out, we’re good.”
It’s the first child for the 36-year-old Griffin, who served as the White House director of strategic communications during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, and her business consultant husband, Justin Griffin. Griffin had been open in the past about her struggles with fertility, which included five rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.
During her maternity leave, Griffin will be replaced by a series of guest hosts, including Amanda Carpenter, Sheryl Underwood, Whitney Cummings and former co-hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman.
