One man was killed and another wounded in a surprise attack outside a Bronx apartment building Wednesday, police said.
The victims, aged 32 and 33, were attacked outside the building on Davidson and W. Tremont Aves. in Morris Heights around 3:30 p.m., cops said.
A witness told the Daily News that the victims were hanging out beneath scaffolding there when the attacker walked up and immediately began stabbing them.
“He walked up on them holding something in his pocket,” said the witness, who asked to remain anonymous. “He started stabbing and stabbing the two out in front of the building.”
One of the victims fell where he stood, while the other man fled towards W. Tremont Ave before collapsing, the witness said.
Medics rushed both victims to St. Barnabas Hospital. The younger man, who was stabbed in the chest, could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.
The other victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the torso and was expected to survive, cops said.
A motive behind the surprise stabbing wasn’t immediately disclosed.
Cops are searching for a man last seen wearing a green T-shirt, khaki shorts and a black White Sox baseball cap, according to law enforcement sources.
No arrests have been made.
