
Several food-related events are happening this weekend across North Texas in celebration of Juneteenth.
Many Texans are gearing up to celebrate Juneteenth this week.
Observed each year on June 19, Juneteenth commemorates the day news of the abolition of slavery finally reached Texas. It will be honored across the country Friday with many events and celebrations.
Here are some offerings for foodies this weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Juneteenth food fests in Dallas
The sixth annual Dallas Juneteenth Soul Food Fest is on June 20, 2026, from 12 to 6 p.m. Held at Lofty Spaces in Dallas, the family reunion-style event will include food from over 20 food vendors from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and surrounding states.
Attendees can try pork chops, oxtails, candied yams, greens, fried chicken, fish, barbecue, funnel cake as well as vegan options and more. The Soul Food Fest will also have several small business vendors, live entertainment and kids’ activities.

Also on June 20 is the Juneteenth Flavor Fest at the Mar Thoma Event Center from 1 to 6 p.m. Attendees can explore a variety of food vendors as well as shop with local businesses and participate in games and raffles.
The Flavor Fest is also free to enter, but you can visit eventbrite.com to reserve a spot or learn more about the event.
Dallas Juneteenth Soul Food Fest is at 816 Montgomery St., Dallas, and Juneteenth Flavor Fest is at 11500 Luna Road, Dallas.
Juneteenth dinner party in Dallas
Podcaster, NFL wife and foodie Tamela Davis will host a dinner party at Café Momentum on June 19 from 6 to 9 p.m.

For the event, called An Evening with Tamela Davis at Café Momentum, Davis will share a multicourse Southern dinner inspired by her Mississippi roots at the nonprofit restaurant.
According to the event website, the menu will feature lemon pepper wings, turkey necks, collard greens, sweet potato casserole, strawberry shortcake and more.
General admission tickets are $75, and they’re available on eventbrite.com.

Juneteenth barbecue competition, festival in Plano
The Plano Boys & Girls Club will host the Juneteenth “King of the Grill” Cook-Off and Douglass Community BBQ Festival on June 20 from 3 to 8:30 p.m.

The celebration begins with the cookoff, where local pitmasters will serve their barbecue dishes and compete for the title of 2026 King of the Grill. They will be judged by a panel of local judges, and the crowd will be able to taste their food.
The main event is the Community BBQ festival, which will have free barbecue for a limited time, a lineup of food trucks, spoken word performances, live entertainment and a kids zone. Visit planojuneteenth.com to learn more about the celebration.
