Silvy’s story: Silvy came from a Riverside shelter through the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center’s Mission for Home program. Her cheerful, easygoing nature was evident as soon as she arrived; she is content simply to sit at someone’s feet and enjoy human companionship. During her spay surgery, complications arose. A cardiologist determined that she has a disease that weakens the heart’s ability to function properly. Although the condition, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), has no cure, many dogs with it live comfortably for extended periods with the appropriate medication and veterinary care. Silvy’s diagnosis has done nothing to stop her resilience and spirit. She doesn’t know anything is wrong with her heart, and she deserves to experience a loving home for as long as possible. The shelter would like to find a calm, patient home for Silvy. Because she cannot handle long walks or vigorous play with other dogs, a relaxed household would be ideal, along with an owner or owners who would enjoy the little things in life along with her. The shelter’s Dedicated Animal Welfare Group has committed to continuing Silvy’s medical care, so her new family will not have to worry about veterinary expenses.

If you feel you have space in your heart and home for a dog who needs special care and companionship, meet Silvy. Her loyalty, unconditional love and gratitude will be worth the extra care her heart requires, guaranteed!
