A woman was arrested Monday for shooting a 23-year-old man to death outside a Bronx elementary school, cops said.
Diora Teal, 22, was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon for the deadly June 7 shooting that killed Jayden Purvis, according to law enforcement.
Teal lives in Norwood, just around the corner from where Purvis was shot, said police. This is her first arrest in New York City.
Purvis was shot multiple times in his torso near Public School 56 Norwood Heights at E. 207th St. and Decatur Ave. in Norwood about 12:05 a.m., cops said.
I just lost my son,” his mother told the Daily News. “Someone killed my son. I just want to grieve.”
Medics rushed Purvis to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died. He lived in the South Bronx.
“Rest in peace to my childhood best friend,” a friend of Purvis’ wrote on Facebook. “We grew up together, and I will forever cherish all of the crazy memories, laughter, and adventures we shared. You are gone too soon, but your spirit will always live on in my heart.”
Police are looking for two additional suspects, both men spotted fleeing the scene of Purvis’ shooting wearing masks and hoodies.
