Woman arrested for murder of man whose body was dumped behind Bronx hospital

An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a 21-year-old woman wanted for the shooting death of a man whose body was found dumped behind a Bronx hospital last year, cops said Thursday.

An NYPD warrants squad picked up Malia Rosa after a tip came in through the CrimeStoppers hotline, police said. She is charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon for the death of 21-year-old Jontay Davis.

Davis’s lifeless body was found in a car with two gunshot wounds to the head behind St. Barnabas Hospital on Third Ave. near 183rd St. in Belmont around 2 a.m. on Sept. 2, 2025, according to police.

Rosa is the third person charged with Davis’s death.

Xavier Kearney, 23, was captured in November last year, while cops nabbed Desean Edwards, 22, nine days after the shooting. Both men were held without bail on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Kearney lives in Soundview, in the Bronx, and Edwards lives in Flatbush, Brooklyn, cops said.

Rosa, a Brooklyn resident with no prior criminal history, was apprehended just shy of a year after police released her image to the public.

The victim’s grief-stricken mother said Davis had just graduated high school and wanted to be a mechanic.

“He was a beautiful child,” she said.

Davis’ older sister created a GoFundMe to cover his funeral expenses.

Her brother, she wrote in the post, was “left for dead at the back of St. Barnabas Hospital, discarded as if he were nothing.”

“The pain and shock of losing him in such a heartbreaking and cruel way is something our family will carry forever,” she said.

“Jontay was only 21 years old, full of life, dreams, and love for the people around him. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend who deserved so much more time here with us. Jontay also lived with autism, which gave him a unique and beautiful way of seeing the world,” she wrote. “He touched everyone he met with his kindness, his big heart, and his special spirit.”
