D4vd’s lawyers have maintained his innocence following his arrest on suspicion of killing Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old girl whose dismembered and severely decomposed remains were discovered in the singer’s impounded Tesla in a Los Angeles tow yard in September.
“Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” D4vd’s attorneys, Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski and Regina Peter, said in a statement.
“There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed,” it continued. “David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was taken into custody on Thursday, some seven months after Rivas Hernandez’s mutilated remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla belonging to the Queens-born “Romantic Homicide” singer. Police made the grisly discovery on Sept. 8, after workers at Hollywood Tow reported a foul odor coming from the electric vehicle, recently towed from Hollywood Hills.
The teen, a runaway from Riverside County, had been reported missing in April 2024 from her family’s home in Lake Elsinore, Calif., some 76 miles away from where the car was parked. She was just 13 years old at the time of her disappearance.
Following D4vd’s arrest, police said investigators would present its case to prosecutors at the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office on Monday. The office said in its own statement that it is aware of the arrest, adding that its Major Crimes Division will review the case to determine whether there is enough evidence to file charges.
