More than 200 people were arrested across both weekends at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival that took place during the last two weekends authorities said.

Among the suspected crimes were drug possession, public intoxication and use of fake IDs, according to the Indio Police Department.

“It’s not your small concert at a small casino where you have a sellout crowd of 200 people,” said police Sgt. Abe Plata. “We’re talking about more than 100,000 people in one spot, and a lot of concertgoers are great.

“For the number of people there, when you think about it, we really don’t have that much (crime),” the sergeant said.

During the second of the festival’s two weekends, ending Sunday, April 19, police said they arrested 106 people, including 52 for drug possession, 13 for fake IDs and eight for public intoxication.

The remaining 33 people were arrested on suspicion of a variety of charges, including domestic violence, trespassing, battery and driving under the influence.

Police cited 85 people for unlawfully using disability parking placards during the festival’s second weekend. Anyone entering the disability parking area had to show the ID of the person to whom the placard was issued, and that person needed to be in the vehicle.

One person was cited for unlawfully using a disability license plate, and another received an unspecified citation.
