A Harlem grandmother’s irate ex fatally shot her inside the bathroom of her daughter’s home where she’d fled after he beat and threatened to kill her for rebuffing his sexual advances, prosecutors allege in new information revealed about the horrific crime.

Eliud Garcia, 50, of the Bronx, was indicted for murder, burglary, weapons possession, assault and stalking on Thursday for breaking into the apartment and shooting 47-year-old Basilisa Negron at close range six times as she got ready for work just days before Christmas, on Dec. 23, 2025.

“I feel like justice is doing what it is supposed to do,” said Negron’s brother Juan Romero told the Daily News on Thursday. “That’s not gonna bring my sister back but at least he’s gonna rot in there, so that’s good for me.”

Two months before the murder, Garcia repeatedly punched and kicked Negron after she refused to have sex with him, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. Garcia then threatened to “hurt” Negron’s kids and told her “he would kill her if she was ever with anyone else.”

Negron immediately broke up with Garcia after the violent Oct. 27 altercation, which left her with a black eye, and a swollen and bruised arm.

Garcia, then proceeded to stalk Negron until he executed her, routinely showing up near her daughter’s W. 141st St. apartment near Malcolm X Blvd. where she’d been staying. He also repeatedly called her after she blocked him and logged onto her social media, prosecutors allege.

The day he killed her, Garcia left his parents’ home around 11:00 a.m. and walked south to Negron’s daughter’s place. Upon arriving Garcia paced around at a nearby street corner watching as Negron’s daughter left the apartment and headed to a deli to get food.

Then as a tenant left the apartment building Garcia slipped inside before entering Negron’s daughter’s apartment, confronting Negron in the bathroom and shooting her in the forehead, torso, arms and legs.

When the daughter returned home she found her mother’s bloodied, lifeless body, Negron’s 43-year-old sister-in-law previously said.

“She’s pretty broken,” said the sister-in-law, who wished to remain anonymous. “Every time she closes her eyes she just sees her mother there.”

Garcia sprinted off exiting through a side entrance and evaded authorities until cops nabbed him on March 25, 2026.

“He should rot in hell,” Negron’s son, 28-year-old Richie Negron, said in March following Garcia’s arrest. “At the very least, he should get the maximum.”

Negron had seven children, three of them with Garcia, and four granddaughters, the oldest being 11. The daughter she was staying with was from an earlier relationship, Romero previously said.

“She was all for her kids. She was a free spirit. She wanted the best for her kids, her grandkids, for the whole family,” said her sister-in-law.

“She went beyond expectations for her kids, helping them out, buying them stuff. She was there for them when they needed anything or had a problem.”

Romero called his sister a devoted and loving sibling and mother.

Negron was the oldest of her siblings.

“She was a loving person,” Romero said. “She’s always trying to help people. She’s always doing whatever she can. Even if she had the last dollar, she would have gave it to you just to help you out.”
