TikTok star Gabbie Gonzalez has been freed on bail after she was arrested with her father over an alleged plot to murder boy band alum Jack Avery, with whom the influencer has recently been locked in a custody battle.
Gonzalez, who has more than 427,000 followers across her TikTok accounts, and 473,000 on Instagram, was released from custody early Friday evening after posting her $2 million bail, TMZ reported. In addition to ordering Gonzalez to stay at least 100 yards away from Avery and their 7-year-old daughter, Lavender, the judge barred her from talking about the case on social media. She was also required to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
Gonzalez was arrested Monday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation of murder. She did not enter a plea during her court hearing on Tuesday.
Her father, Francisco Gonzalez, 59, and her former boyfriend, Kai Faron Cordrey, 26, were also arrested and hit with the same charges in connection with the murder-for-hire plot they allegedly orchestrated to kill Avery, who found fame with the boy band Why Don’t We.
Between October 2020 and May 2021, Gabbie Gonzalez “repeatedly discussed wanting Jack Avery dead,” prosecutors alleged, and she enlisted Cordrey, her boyfriend at the time, to help her. Then, in April 2021, her father allegedly sent $10,000 to Cordrey “as front money to use in locating, hiring and paying someone to kill Avery,” according court filings.
Prosecutors further alleged the plot was a means for Gonzalez to end her custody battle with Avery, adding that her father became “deeply involved” in the conflict and made efforts to “discredit, monitor and remove Avery from his daughter’s life.”
On Sept. 19, 2021, an undercover FBI agent posing as a hit man spoke with Cordrey by phone about the purported plot. Cordrey allegedly identified Avery as the target and discussed payment and proof of death. He specifically requested “Jack’s finger with his jewelry still on it,” the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office told People.
