Fort Worth police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 9-year-old child in February that was recently ruled a homicide, according to a statement.
Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Daniel Street about 3:14 a.m. on Feb. 8. Once there, police found a girl, identified as Joanna Jordyn Shoulder, lying on the floor while someone administered CPR.
Fort Worth Fire Department officials responded, stabilized Joanna and transported her to the hospital, where she died at 4:01 a.m.
After a doctor told officers that Joanna “appeared to have extensive bruising,” homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate and conduct interviews.
Police requested Joanna’s autopsy from the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, which they received last week, according to the statement. According to the autopsy, Joanna’s cause of death was blunt force injuries.
Police arrested a 35-year-old man Tuesday about 6:20 p.m. He faces a charge of capital murder of a person under 10 years of age.
