Former child actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas was arrested Monday in Westlake Village and later released for interfering with officers and resisting arrest.
The 45-year-old “Home Improvement” star was the passenger in a vehicle pulled over by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at the intersection of Westlake Boulevard and Townsgate Road for blocking traffic at a green light, according to media reports.
Reportedly, deputies pulled the driver of the vehicle over, who appeared to be intoxicated. While performing sobriety tests on the driver, the sheriff’s department said that Thomas, who also appeared intoxicated, kept disrupting them.
Deputies attempted to detain Thomas for obstruction and public intoxication, at which point Thomas allegedly kicked a deputy in the stomach.
The former child star was then arrested and booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, according to sheriff’s department inmate records.
The driver was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Thomas was released on Tuesday due to law enforcement not having sufficient grounds to keep him detained, sheriff’s department inmates record showed.
No future court date for Thomas related to the incident was published in online records.
