Some stores may be without highly popular Nike shoes and clothes in their inventory Thursday after a train heist in Whittier.
Authorities responded to six suspects who removed packages of Nike shoes and apparel from a freight train around 2:21 a.m. Thursday near 3777 Wokman Mills Road, just east of the 605 Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.
CHP officers responded to a call for assistance from security personnel with Union Pacific Railroad, but only arrived after the suspects had fled, the CHP said.
Video from the scene shows authorities recovering numerous boxes, including Nike shoe boxes, from below a freeway overpass. It is unclear how much of the cargo the suspects stole.
No descriptions of the suspect were immediately available.
