A 23-year-old woman was killed and a baby girl was critically hurt in a plunge from a Bronx apartment building early Tuesday, police said.
One witness told police the victims were thrown from a balcony, ABC 7 New York reported, but NYPD officials said it is not yet clear if a crime was committed.
“I heard her yelling and screaming, ‘Please don’t do this, that’s my baby! My baby is scared, look at her face,’” a woman told the station. “That’s when, the next thing you know, I heard her scream and I see something hit the ground.”
The shocking incident happened at 3:38 a.m. at an 18-story apartment building on Olinville Ave. near Allerton Ave. Cops on scene are focused on a 15th-floor balcony.
Police said the woman and child, believed to be about a year old, were found on the ground with severe injuries.
Officers rushed the baby to Jacobi Medical Center, where she is in critical condition.
Medics rushed the woman to the same hospital but she could not be saved. Her name was not immediately released.
Cops are looking to question a man described as white and in his 50s with gray hair, ABC 7 New York reported.
