Actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who captured 1990s teen hearts as the mischievous middle son Randy Taylor on “Home Improvement,” has had a run-in with the law.
The 45-year-old former child star allegedly got pushy during a traffic stop, according to reports — and he wasn’t even driving. He’s now faces three felony counts related to obstructing or resisting an officer.
Thomas was a passenger in a car that was pulled over in upscale Westlake Village, California, at 12:30 a.m. Monday, law enforcement sources told TMZ. Cops told him to stay inside the vehicle, but he exited the car anyway. Once out, police realized Thomas appeared drunk, KNBC reported. That prompted an investigation of the driver, who was arrested for suspected DUI.
Thomas was held in the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station jail overnight and released around noon on Tuesday, according to online jail records.
Thomas was on “Home Improvement” from 1991-98, leaving at age 16 to pursue academics, after appearing in just three episodes of the hit sitcom’s final season in 1999. He also appeared in or voiced movie roles, most notably as the cub Simba in Disney’s animated “The Lion King.” He played Tom Sawyer in 1995’s “Tom and Huck” and voiced and played Pinocchio in “The Adventures of Pinocchio” in 1996.
Taylor’s reps did not comment on Wednesday.
