Fans of the global animated TV phenomenon “Bluey” can see the hugely popular character in a stage show coming to Disneyland starting Sunday.

Located in the venerable Fantasyland Theatre, “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!’ incorporates live music, dancing and more at Disneyland park. There’s no additional charge to see the two different rotating shows but, of course, since it’s Disney, you’ll also be able to buy plenty of Bluey stuff, including special food and merchandise.

Alexandra Currie of Whittier said her 5-year-old daughter, Charlotte, loves Bluey and will be excited to see the show at Disneyland.

“She loves the play they engage in and that the parents are involved,” Currie said. “We’re annual passholders, so we’ll see it soon.”

“Bluey” is an Emmy-winning cartoon series from Australia designed for preschool children, based on a cute and loveable Blue Heeler cattle dog puppy. Her younger sister, Bingo, is also in the Disneyland stage show, which will run several times each day. The TV show has become an international blockbuster, airing around the world and also selling albums, books, toys and more.

Most recently, the Fantasyland Theatre has been transformed into a depiction of Bluey’s schoolyard, incorporating a fun fair with games, dancing and more. Showtimes have not been announced, but at various times during the day, Bluey and her sister, Bingo, will appear on stage with a live band and other performers. Reserved seats are not required because the theater is open for families to enjoy Bluey-themed activities. (Check later for showtimes on Disneyland.com or the app.)

“We drew inspiration from so many iconic ‘Bluey’ moments and themes, and we wanted to pack as many details as we could into this experience,” Jennifer Magill, executive producer, Disney Live Entertainment said in a statement. “By transforming Fantasyland Theatre into an immersive space full of activities, we found ways to highlight memorable moments that all ages and everyone in the family will enjoy.”

A five-piece band will play new musical arrangements of familiar songs from the animated series. There will also be storytelling and dance-alongs, where kids can explore a life-sized Fairy Garden and Gnome Village, race Barky Boats and get on Bluey’s helicopter stump for a pretend ride on the upper and lower grounds of the venue.

Friends, including Chattermax, Unicorse and a troupe of Grannies, will also make an appearance.

Photo opportunities include posing with Bluey’s family car, joining in Bluey’s school class photo and standing in front of Bluey’s fun fair map.

And, then there’s the ever-present merch, which can be found at World of Disney in Downtown Disney, at Elias & Co in Disney California park and also at the Fantasyland Theatre.

The “Bluey” TV show was created by Joe Brumm, a native of Queensland, Australia. In published interviews, Brumm has said he decided to make the characters dogs in Australia. It first aired in 2018 and now airs in the U.S. on various Disney channels.

Note that this is an all-new stage show and not the 2019 live show, “Bluey’s Big Play,” which has toured worldwide. This new show is a collaborative project involving Disney Live Entertainment, Ludo Studio of Australia and BBC Studios.

Hungry visitors can find specially themed offerings at Troubadour Tavern, including a special $5.99 kids meal, miniature Dutch pancakes, a baked potato, Pavlova parfait and mud cake cold brew, along with a souvenir Bluey beverage sipper.  The Plaza Inn is scheduled to offer a Stumpfest Cake of chocolate with white chocolate mousse and ganache, and a Bluey popcorn bucket.
