A woman died and five others were hurt following a two-vehicle crash on North Central Expressway in Dallas early Sunday morning.

The woman, four others and the driver of the truck that police alleged caused the crash were all taken to a hospital, according to a news release from Dallas police. The driver of the truck has been arrested, police said.

The major crash was reported around 3:56 a.m. on North Central Expressway near north Henderson Avenue after a silver pickup truck veered across two lanes and hit a concrete barrier and pillar, police said.

The silver pickup reentered the road and collided with a red truck. Police said the red truck struck a concrete barrier and came to a stop in the road. The silver pickup stopped when it struck the concrete barrier again.

There were five people inside the silver truck, according to police. All four passengers were taken to a hospital, including a juvenile with serious injuries and the female passenger who later died.  Police said the driver of the silver truck was arrested and then taken to a hospital.

There were two people in the red truck. Police said only the passenger was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.

The name and charges of the driver will be released once they are booked into jail, police said.
