Gossip blogger Perez Hilton says he had emergency surgery for leg blood clot

Media personality Perez Hilton said he was hospitalized again and undergoing emergency surgery on Friday.

“I just can’t stay away!” the 48-year-old influencer wrote on Instagram.

Hilton’s message included a video that appeared to show him in a hospital bed. He claimed that pain in his one of his legs left him unable to walk.

According to Hilton, doctors in Las Vegas determined that a blood clot was to blame for his discomfort.

“If that blood clot had gone to my lungs or my heart, it could have been real bad,” he said while asking for prayers.

“I sit and wait for my thrombectomy surgery at 8 AM,” Hilton posted Friday thanking supporters, including singer Robbie Williams, for wishing him well on social media.

The gossip blogger, podcaster and reality TV personality, born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., also posted video and photos relating to his health issues that he said kept him hospitalized for 21 days in March.

Perez blamed “stupidity” for that long medical stay in a social media video that he called “the most important video I’ve ever shared.”

After a lengthy monologue about how that experience strengthened his faith, Hilton explained that he had developed an ulcer that led to sepsis after taking flu medication on an empty stomach for a week.

Hilton said he was comforted to see many medical staffers who worked with him last month when he returned to Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center for his latest visit.

He said in a tearful YouTube video posted Thursday that he had regrets about his approach to celebrity coverage in his younger years and now sees himself as an “entertainment journalist.”

Hilton credited the Bible for his change of heart.
