Helena Bonham Carter has officially checked out of the White Lotus.

HBO on Friday confirmed the Oscar-nominated actress will no longer appear in the upcoming fourth season of the hit show created by Mike White.

“With filming just underway on Season 4 of ‘The White Lotus,’ it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to Variety.

“The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten, and will be recast in the coming weeks,” the statement continued. “HBO, the producers, and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”

The casting shakeup is not expected to impact the filming schedule.

Bonham Carter was announced as part of the upcoming cast in January, with Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Chris Messina and Sandra Bernhard also set to appear. Other big names slated star include Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

“The White Lotus,” which premiered on HBO in 2021, follows guests and employees at a fictional resort at different locations all over the world. The upcoming season is set to take place in the French Rivera during the Cannes Film festival.
