Resource Center, an LGBTQ advocacy group, announced Wednesday that KERA’s chief operating officer Christopher Wagley will join the nonprofit as its new chief executive officer.

Wagley has worked at KERA, a North Texas-based public media organization, for 16 years. He will join Resource Center in November following the retirement of longtime CEO Cece Cox

“The challenges of these days call for a leader who is both resolute and collaborative,” Cox said in a Wednesday news release. “Christopher is that leader.”

Resource Center has provided LGBTQ-affirming healthcare services for North Texas for over 40 years, according to its website.

Wagley has over 20 years of nonprofit management experience. At KERA, he oversaw the opening of its new 56,000-square-foot broadcast facility and community engagement center and engaged the LGBTQ donor community.

“Christopher is an exceptional leader whose vision, operational strength, community credibility, and deep commitment to LGBTQIA+ advocacy make him uniquely prepared to lead Resource Center into its next chapter,” said Resource Center Board Chair Chris LaGrone in a news release.

Before KERA, Wagley worked for MTV Networks, helping to launch LOGO, the county’s first LGBTQ cable channel.

Wagley’s LGBTQ advocacy efforts expand beyond his career. He serves as a member of the Turtle Creek Chorale and on Resource Center’s Board of Directors, where he helped launch Oak Lawn Place in 2024 and open Resource Center Health in 2025.

“For more than 40 years, this organization has made people feel seen, supported, and cared for,” Wagley said in a news release. “My commitment is to ensure we have the reach and resilience to do that for more people, in more places, for generations to come
