A 24-year-old man was charged with capital murder after a 4-month-old was found unconscious earlier this month in Mesquite and later died at a hospital, according to a Mesquite police news release.
Mesquite police officers were dispatched May 9 to assist fire personnel in the 4000 block of Towne Crossing Boulevard after a report of an unconscious infant, according to the release. Mesquite Fire personnel performed lifesaving measures and took the child to an area hospital, where the infant died.
Police said multiple injuries were found on the infant, prompting an investigation into the child’s death.
Investigators later developed sufficient evidence to arrest the man on a capital murder charge, police said.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
