Bradley Michael Davis, 49, died May 6 at 5:17 p.m. at Parkland Memorial Hospital, according to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office.
Ellis County deputies responded to the 100 block of Carol Lane at 3:36 p.m. after receiving two calls from witnesses, Ellis County sheriff’s office said in a prior release.
The first witness called and said they heard yelling and a firearm being discharged from a nearby residence, deputies said. A second witness said there was an adult male, identified as Davis, actively threatening self-harm.
Deputies said they found Davis as they arrived at the location and noticed he had a firearm.
Deputies said they gave Davis multiple commands to drop the weapon, but he refused and pointed the firearm at them. A deputy then shot Davis.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
