Motorcyclist, 49, dies after rear-ending SUV on Bronx expressway

A 49-year-old motorcyclist died after he rear-ended an SUV on the Cross Bronx Expressway, cops said Sunday.

Pedro Cortes was riding a 2004 Suzuki west on the expressway when he slammed into the back of a 2020 Dodge Durango near Pugsley Ave. in Parkchester about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, cops said.

He then struck the central divider and the impact tossed him from his motorcycle onto the pavement, police said.

Cortes lived in Pelham Bay, according to cops. Medics rushed him to Jacobi Medical Center but he could not be saved.

The Durango’s 51-year-old driver stayed on the scene and faced no immediate charges as cops continue to investigate.
