Netflix has struck a deal to acquire Ben Affleck’s Interpostive AI company.
The streaming service didn’t provide specifics about its deal with Interpositive, which describes itself as a company that combines “artistry with technology to craft bold visual stories that connect.”
The Academy Award-winning actor’s business creates AI and animation tools that filmmakers can use to bring their ideas to movie screens.
Affleck said in a statement released through Netflix that the concept has been in the works since 2022.
“Intensive research and development led to our first model, trained to understand visual logic and editorial consistency, while preserving cinematic rules under real-world production challenges, such as missing shots, background replacements or incorrect lighting,” Affleck said.
He added that “restraints to protect creative intent” were integrated to make sure artists, not computers, were making decisions about their work.

Netflix Chief Product and Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone echoed Affleck’s sentiments.
“We’re excited to welcome the Interpositive team to Netflix and continue building towards a future of entertainment where technology plays a part in how stories are made, but people — and their ideas, craft and judgment — remain at the core of great storytelling,” she said.
Netflix’s deal with Interpositive comes a little more than a week after the streaming service dropped its nearly $83 billion offer to purchase Warner Bros. Discovery rather than trying to match Paramount Skydance’s offer of about $110 billion.
“Netflix’s business is healthy, strong and growing organically, powered by our slate and best-in-class streaming service,” Netflix claimed. “This year, we’ll invest approximately $20 billion in quality films and series and will expand our entertainment offering.”
Variety reported that 16 Interpositive engineers, researchers and creatives will work for Netflix.
