A protest against the shooting of Oscar Belgal by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents ended in arrests after multiple demonstrators blocked traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge Wednesday, cops said.
Around 30 protesters formed a line in the Brooklyn-bound lanes on the Manhattan side of the span to block pedestrian and vehicular traffic around 12:35 p.m., police said.

Two protesters could be seen holding a large yellow banner that read “Stop Shooting Us.”
At least 14 protesters were taken into custody after they refused repeated orders to disperse. It was not immediately clear what they were charged with.

Video posted on X shows irate drivers arguing with protestors, who refused to let them pass.
“It’s not fair. We’re down with it, but it’s not fair,” one man says in the video.

Belgal, an undocumented immigrant with an arrest record that includes two busts in the last three years, was wounded when ICE agents fired seven rounds into the silver Honda Civic SUV he was driving in the Bronx on Oct. 8. His 5-year-old son was in the backseat when ICE agents opened fire.
Belgal was struck in the neck. The child was not harmed.
Attorneys for Belgal are trying to get him released from federal lockup, claiming in court papers that ICE didn’t have a valid warrant to take him into custody.
