A badly burned corpse was discovered in a trash-filled vacant Queens lot, officials said Friday.
Police responding to a 911 call for an unconscious person near the corner of 139th St. and Hillside Ave. in Jamaica discovered the human remains at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday.
The burned body was found inside an overgrown, trash-filled lot behind a graffitied wall, according to Eyewitness News.
People often dump trash in the lot, which has long been considered an eyesore by locals, the outlet reported. Occasionally, residents have seen people sleeping in the lot.
Investigators were still working to identify the charred remains, cops said. It was not immediately clear if the victim was a man or a woman.
Medics pronounced the person dead at the scene. The city’s medical examiner will determine how they died.
No arrests had been made as the investigation continued Friday.
