Paramedics transported someone from Christina Applegate’s Los Angeles home to an area hospital shortly before her revelation this week that she had been misdiagnosed with  multiple sclerosis.

TMZ said that fire department officials confirmed medics were dispatched to tend to an unidentified individual complaining of abdominal pain on Friday.

The 54-year-old actor said on her “MeSsy” podcast Tuesday that her doctors recently told her she whatever is afflicting her is not MS. Applegate told co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who has been living with relapsing MS for 25 years, that she’s now unsure why her body appears to be breaking down.

“I haven’t gotten better, Jamie,” she said. “If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways.”

It’s unclear if Applegate was the person tended to by first responders last week in her Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles Fire Department declined to comment on the matter due to medical privacy protection. Applegate’s representatives have not responded to a request for confirmation.

The mother to a 15-year-old daughter became an activist dedicated to battling MS after her initial diagnosis with the disorder. A 2019 study published by the National Institutes on Health calls misdiagnosis of MS an ongoing “problem with significant clinical and psychosocial implications for both patients as well as health care providers.”

A study conducted by neurologists across four academic centers found that 50% of MS patients carried a misdiagnosis for at least three years.

Applegate last acted in the Netflix series “Dead to Me” from 2019 to 2022. She and Sigler launched their podcast in 2024.
