Patrick Clancy still talks to the three children his ex-wife Lindsay is accused of murdering in their Massachusetts home, he says.
He told “60 Minutes” in an interview airing Sunday that he speaks with his dead daughter Cora and her little brothers Dawson and Callan “all the time.”
Asked what he says to them, the grieving dad said that he asks for help.
Lindsay’s murder trial ended in a hung jury on Sept. 4 after one juror couldn’t agree with 11 others who believed Lindsay isn’t criminally responsible for strangling her children due to her compromised mental state. Prosecutors haven’t announced whether they intend to try the 36-year-old defendant again. Lindsay’s lawyers argued that she suffered from postpartum psychosis after delivering 8-month-old Callan. She’s currently housed in a psychiatric hospital.
CBS news program “60 Minutes” landed Patrick’s first interview since his wife’s trial ended. “CBS Mornings” aired part of that conversation on Thursday.
A preview of Sunday’s segment includes a clip of Patrick testifying at his ex-wife’s hearing. He told jurors that he came home to find Lindsay seriously injured after an apparent suicide attempt, and that she told him their children were in the basement. All three little kids were dead.
Patrick’s attorney earlier warned conspiracy theorists against defaming his client. Lindsay’s defense lawyer also voiced objection to rumors alleging Patrick, who remarried in April, had anything to do with the death of his kids. He’s not facing any charges.
