Actor Ving Rhames collapsed in a Los Angeles restaurant on Wednesday and was brought to an area hospital for observation.

The Harlem native was having lunch with his family when he suffered a medical emergency, according to TMZ. A representative for the burly performer said the star appears to have become “overheated,” but is expected to be OK.

He reportedly lost consciousness during the episode. His manager couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Rhames starred as kingpin Marsellus Wallace in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 classic “Pulp Fiction.”

The 66-year-old actor’s screen credits also include the Demi Moore film “Striptease,” Martin Scorsese’s “Bringing Out the Dead” and the “Mission: Impossible” franchise.

Rhames said in a 2002 Blackfilm.com interview that he was becoming more serious about acting as time passed.

“Yes, because I realize now that this is my legacy,” he said. “When I leave this planet, there will be DVDs and movies will be here.”

He studied drama at SUNY Purchase and Julliard. Rhames, who has also appeared in Shakespeare in the Park, told the Washington Post in 1997 he’s happy to do theater if he doesn’t like what’s being offered by Hollywood.

“I can do (plays by) Ibsen, I can do ‘Macbeth,’ I can do (plays by) Chekhov, I can do Moliere, ‘Othello,’ I can do ‘Richard III,’” he said.
