A principal in the Ontario-Montclair School District was arrested in Costa Mesa on Aug. 17 on suspicion of arranging to meet a minor for lewd purposes, officials said Tuesday.
Jason Kaylor, 45, the principal at Vineyard STEAM Academy in Ontario, was arrested in the 3200 block of Harbor Boulevard a little past midnight on Aug. 17 after police received a report that he allegedly was attempting to meet a minor, said Roxi Fyad, the public affairs manager for the Costa Mesa Police Department.
Kaylor was the principal at Vineyard STEAM Academy at the time of the arrest in August, Ontario-Montclair School District Superintendent James Hammond said in an email.
“Ontario-Montclair School District is aware of the arrest of Jason Kaylor,” Hammond shared in the e-mailed statement. “The district is also aware that there is a current investigation being conducted by the Costa Mesa Police Department. In alignment with District policy, the District will not comment any further regarding confidential personnel information.”
Desarai Patrick is currently serving as acting principal at Vineyard STEAM Academy, said Irma Sanchez, the public relations officer for the district.
Prior to becoming principal at Vineyard STEAM Academy, Kaylor worked as the principal at Alta Loma High School in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Orange County District Attorney’s office had not filed criminal charges against Kaylor as of Tuesday, Sept. 8.
