Cops have arrested a Bronx attacker wanted for fatally stabbing a 27-year-old man in the neck during a robbery — as well as the man’s girlfriend, who is accused of helping him evade the law, officials said Friday.
Detectives arrested Amiri Daniels, 19, on Thursday, charging him with murder, manslaughter, robbery and weapons possession, police said.
He was on the run for two weeks before cops grabbed him, officials said. —His girlfriend, Tamaya Gaines, 18, who was not involved in the murder, was charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence for trying to hide him, police said.
Daniels is accused of stabbing Martin Marquez in the neck during a robbery in an apartment building on the Grand Concourse near Rockwood Ave. in Mount Eden the afternoon of Oct. 7, officials said.
Medics rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital, but he could not be saved.
The killer ran off, but the NYPD the next day released a surveillance image of the suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.
As cops searched for him, Daniels got help hiding out from Gaines, police said.
It’s not clear what sparked the robbery and murder. Daniels has two prior arrests for assault and menacing, cops said.
