Two teens went on a carjacking armed robbery spree in Brooklyn — with one vaulting the sidewalk and trying to run down an NYPD cop, who opened fire in response, police said Wednesday.
The chaos played out over 59 minutes, starting in Midwood and ending with a crash in East New York Tuesday night, officials said.
It began at 7:40 p.m. when the crooks, one armed with a gun, tried to rob a 24-year-old man on E. 16th St. near Avenue P, police said.
But the victim ran off and the teens fled empty-handed only to strike again two minutes later, yanking a 23-year-old man out of his vehicle on E. 15th St. near Avenue O, police said.
The crooks drove off in the stolen vehicle but with police tracking it and trying to stop the duo a couple of miles away at 8:30 p.m.
The teens got into a crash during the stop, with one boy arrested at the scene and his 16-year-old accomplice running off.
The boy who got away confronted a woman standing outside her vehicle on Kimball St. near Avenue S in Marine Park, stealing her vehicle.
Cops caught up with him more than three miles away in Canarsie, where they used at least one NYPD vehicle to block him in at E. 100th St. and Avenue K. But instead of giving up, the trapped teen drove onto the sidewalk and headed toward an officer, who fired at the approaching vehicle.
It wasn’t immediately clear how many shots were fired or if the officer struck the vehicle. The boy inside was not struck.
The teen managed to get away again before crashing near Pennsylvania and Wortman Aves. in East New York at 8:39 p.m., cops said.
He was arrested at the crash scene. His name was not released because he is underage.
