A 30-year-old Brooklyn woman was fatally struck by the driver of a city Sanitation Department garbage truck, police said Thursday.
Siobhan Lynch was crossing Bay Parkway in Bath Beach when a sanitation driver heading east on Cropsey Ave. attempted to turn right onto the parkway and slammed into her about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.
Medics rushed Lynch, who was thrown into the roadway by the impact, to NYU Langone Hospital where she died. She lived in Coney Island, according to cops.
The 41-year-old garbage truck driver remained at the scene and faced no immediate charges.
“This is a terrible tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family of the victim,” a Sanitation Department spokesperson said, adding that the agency is assisting the NYPD with the investigation.
