The straphanger busted for slashing another woman at a Brooklyn subway station was released without bail after she was arraigned, authorities said Friday.
An assistant district attorney asked that Jahlayah Blondel be held on $10,000 bail but Judge Masateru Marubashi released her on non-monetary conditions.
Blondel ran from the scene at the Jay. St-MetroTech subway station in Downtown Brooklyn and tossed away her knife, before quickly surrendering, police said.
The 44-year-old victim suffered minor slash wounds to her shoulder and is recovering.
The incident happened at 9:20 a.m. Thursday on the mezzanine level of the station.
Police said the women do not know each other but that they got into an argument as the victim was exiting the train.
The quarrel continued up the escalator leading to the mezzanine.
According to the criminal complaint, police found an imitation pistol in the suspect’s bag. It was not used during the assault.
Blondel was charged with assault, weapons possession and menacing. She pleaded not guilty.
Felony assaults continue to be a problem in the city’s subway system — up 8%, to 441 versus 410 at the same point last year — even as overall transit crime is down 1%.
