“SubwayTakes” creator Kareem Rahma married artist Karina Muslimova despite calling off their plans to tie the knot in Egypt in March due to turmoil in the Middle Eastern country.

The pair hoped to wed in Cairo, which is Rahma’s hometown. The pair told Vogue that they decided instead to marry at a rooftop venue overlooking Manhattan’s Lower East Side on June 27.

Their 2-year-old daughter reportedly served as the ceremony’s flower girl, they said.

“The immediate thought we both had after the Cairo wedding fell through was that if we didn’t do it within the next few months, we would probably never do it at all,” Muslimova confessed.

The U.S. State Department urges Americans traveling to Egypt to exercise increased caution due to terrorism, crime, and health in certain areas.

Rahma began hosting the Internet series “Subway Takes” in 2023. His encounters with New Yorkers taking public transportation has led to interviews with stars including actor Cate Blanchett and Talking Heads singer David Byrne.

He and Muslimova said they met on the dating app Hinge in 2021 and have been together since.

Rahma told the website Great Jones that he and his wife bonded over a shared passion of eating breakfast food for dinner. Muslimova confessed she had no interest in cooking while growing up in Russia. That changed when she came to New York City for college, couldn’t stomach her school’s food and couldn’t afford to regularly eat at restaurants. Muslimova soon learned she had kitchen skills.

“My advice is not to be afraid of not following a recipe exactly,” she said.

Their wedding night included a one-hour dinner followed by partying until 3 a.m.

“I feel like we had the perfect wedding,” Rahma told Vogue.
