Katie Holmes and her new boyfriend Jason Bard Yarmosky arrived hand and hand at the opening of the Metropolitan Opera‘s 141st season at Lincoln Center.
The couple dressed to the nines for the black-tie affair and had eyes only for each other when they weren’t looking at the new production of “Macbeth” starring the brilliant soprano Lise Davidsen and Quinn Kelsey, the baritone who played Macbeth.
Others on the red carpet included Chelsea Handler, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Walsh, F. Murray Abraham, Cynthia Rowley, Julianna Margulies, Josh Lucas, Patricia Clarkson and Famke Janssen.
Sponsors of the night included Al Roker and Deborah Roberts, Jane and Peter Marino, Barbara Tober, and Martin and Jean Shafiroff, who wore a blush pink ball gown by Ese Azenabor.

The death of Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, at a California rehab at the age of 27 has the leaders of addiction centers across the country reviewing their protocols.
Gerber had gone to Mexico to try ibogaine, which is not approved by the FDA in the US.
Dr. Nicholas Kardaras, head of the New York Center for Living said, “Ibogaine, ketamine, and ayahuasca are psychedelic treatments that have become increasingly popular. There is some research indicating potential benefits, but they remain largely unregulated.”
“People are in rehab because they’re struggling with addiction. It doesn’t mean they’re cured of their addiction,” Dr. Kardaras said. “Facilities take great pains to make sure substances don’t come in, but it’s not a perfect system.”

Sharon Stone famously went commando in “Basic Instinct” but she does wear underwear.
“I was on an episodic TV show, and one day I walked out and my underwear and bras were all for sale on a folding plastic table outside,” she told Variety. “And I was so embarrassed.”
She added: “I just went to my manager and I was like, ‘Chuck, I want my costumes in my contract.’ He goes, ‘That is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard.’ I’m like, ‘I just don’t want them auctioning off my underwear anymore.’”

Steven Van Zandt may have indulged in some stronger drugs in the past, but rehearsing last week he stuck with caffeine.
The guitarist from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band was rehearsing with Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke and the Disciples of Soul guitarist Mark Ribler for their gig at The Cutting Room.
Steve Marshall, who runs Libra Studios where they rehearsed, told me, “Van Zandt likes his coffee very light with four sugars.”
“The Sopranos” star borrowed Marshall’s Stratocaster for the run-through and autographed it.
At the Cutting Room, Marshall jammed on harmonica with the band.

Tennis legend Chris Evert and Olympic champion gymnast Shannon Miller are among the brave women who have shared their ovarian cancer journeys, helping bring awareness to a disease that affects thousands of women each year.
Evert said, “Ovarian cancer is relentless, but I will stay optimistic and determined in continuing to fight this battle.”
Miller advised, “There is strength in not only accepting help when offered, but in asking for help when needed.”
Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper (H.O.W.) hosted its 5K Run/Walk on Saturday in West Palm Beach. Proceeds will benefit the Glenda M. Wright Angel Fund, providing financial assistance to women undergoing treatment.

Oscar campaigns are already heating up with “The Odyssey,” starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway, and the Spanish language film “La Bola Negra” leading the pack.
“Blade Runner” actress Joanna Cassidy and Suzanne Somers’ widower Alan Hamel, who are still going steady after a year of dating, attended a private screening of “Tenzing,” starring Tom Hiddleston, Willem DaFoe and Caitriona Balfe.
Hamel described the biographical drama about a Himalayan climber who, with a New Zealand mountaineer, is the first to reach the summit of Mt. Everest in 1953 as “one of the most beautiful films I’ve experienced in years.”
Hamel said, “We cried and now have hope for the world. I can’t wait to see it again.”

Steve Millington, the front of the house icon at Michael’s restaurant on East 55th Street, has a side gig. He plays in a band called the Berger Mill Project.
“It’s a lot of fun,” says the seating sensation. His vocals and guitar are a regular holiday noontime event at Michael’s.
Now the whole band is playing Oct. 3 a little uptown from his regular midtown media hotspot. It’s something called Dive 106 at Amsterdam and 106th.
