Two of Madonna’s bags – containing vintage costumes, clothing, jewelry and other items – have gone missing after the singer’s performance during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, police said.
Indio police officials don’t yet know if the bags were stolen or taken by accident, but they were last seen on a golf cart at the Empire Polo Grounds around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, hours after Madonna’s surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set.
Among the missing items was the vintage costume Madonna wore while performing alongside Sabrina Carpenter, the same jacket, corset, dress and other accessories that she said she wore during her Coachella debut in 2005, the singer said in a statement on Instagram.
“These aren’t just clothes, they are part of my history,” Madonna wrote. “Other archival items from the same era went missing as well.”
A representative from Madonna’s team reported the items missing around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, who told police the bags may have fallen off a staff-operated golf cart before they could have been loaded onto a bus. Staff realized the bags were missing after arriving at a hotel, police said.
Police didn’t release the estimated value of the missing items.
Police ask anyone who may have found the bags to turn them in at the Indio Police Department at 46800 Jackson St. or call 760-391-4057 with any information.
Madonna asked that anyone with information about the missing items reach out to her team at infomaverick2026@gmail.com. The singer said she would offer a reward if the items are returned.
