An off-duty NYPD civilian employee was arrested Wednesday for swiping and walking off with an envelope containing approximately $4,000 in cash and checks that a man dropped at a Bronx diner, cops and a law enforcement source said.
NYPD Senior Police Administrative Aide Elizabeth Gordon, 58, was charged with grand larceny and petit larceny for the theft, cops said.
Gordon was spotted on surveillance video taking the envelope that a 28-year-old man dropped on the floor of Eating Tree, a Jamaican restaurant located on Gerard Ave. near E. 161st St. in Concourse, around 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 26, the source said.
The envelope contained about $2,000 in cash and another $2,000 in checks, according to the source.
Gordon, who made just over $76,000 working for the police department last year, was suspended following her arrest.
Her arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending Wednesday.
